Construction details
Ground preparation - avoiding soil compaction, maintaining drainage, are really important for good planting developement, we have always tried to minimise the amount of heavy equipment on a site, to keep soil compaction to a minimum.
Detail stone work - Random rectangular yorkstone paving, no more than three vertical lines before a crossing break. Here the stone is laid on a sharp sand mortar, before being pointed with a mixture of soft & sharp sand and OP cement.
Care - Clean working areas - Careful hand placing of these irregular natural bricks is important, it allows a tiny adjustment which enables the layer to keep the herringbone bond running in a straight line.
Quality - Careful attention to detail creates a simple yet elegant solution. The triple brick gulley looks superb in this design.
